KBN Core Values

Though many of us are serious about our training goals and performance aspirations, we try to never lose sight of the fact that circus is fun! This is first and foremost a playful space, and we're intentional about keeping it that way. 

Life is serious enough, let's have some f***ing fun!

Part of our mission to make the world a more circus place, involves making circus a more accessible place. We recognize that circus can have many barriers to entry. Whether the limiter is time, resources, lack of experience, physicality, or fear, we do what we can to meet people where they are. Circus is for everyone, and we care about making it so. 

EQUITY NOT EQUALITY. 

Many of the activities we participate in are, at their core, dangerous and can never be truly classified as safe. For this reason, we're especially vigilant about education, informed consent, and establishing/maintaining safety protocols. Safety might come third on our list, but it's always on our minds. 

SAFETY "THIRD"

It's a sad fact that our modern lifestyles have largely stripped us of our connection to our communities. This goes beyond simply the struggles many of us face making and maintaining friendships, though many of us would also admit that making friends as an adult is particularly challenging. 

Performance events are just one of the ways that we seek to engage in our communities. We also love hosting interactive events and community cleanups!

BE THE CIRCUS YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD.

KBN wholly and unapologetically maintains that: 

Trans rights are human rights. 

Black Lives Matter (BLM). 

No human is illegal. 

Land Back.

Love is love. 

Science is real. 

Sex work is real work. 

Abortion is healthcare. 

Diversity makes us stronger. 

Reconnecting to nature is necessary for healing our collective wounds. 

Remember, if you believe life isn't political, then you have the privilege of being protected by majority status. We should all be so fortunate. 

NO TOLERANCE FOR INTOLERANCE. 

Be a grower AND a shower! (Once again, I'm asking you to get your mind out of the gutter, we're talking about personal goals and performance arts).  

All jokes aside, whether your ultimate goal is performance or strictly third space, we believe in meeting our members and communities wherever they are in their circus journey. Inexperience is not a disqualifier, we're interested in growing on this circus journey together. 

GROW LIKE A WEED.

The three R's are threaded through the heart of everything we do. There is a human cost to doing business; success should never come at the expense of others. Be generous. Be kind. Always.
